Mrs. Edell Goodson

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Edell Goodson of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Goodson transitioned on Friday, February 17, 2023 in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service is 12 Noon on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Center Baptist Church with Apostle Dr. Laverne Chapman, Officitaing and Reverend Jackie Boyd, Pastor.  Interment will follow in Hart No. 2 Cemetery. 

     Mrs. Ruby Edell Hickman Goodson, a daughter of the late Henry and Sudie McMillian Hickman, was born September 1, 1942 in Florence, SC.  She entered into her final resting place on Friday, February 17th, 2023 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System along with her eleven siblings.

    She was united in marriage to the late Charles Lucky Goodson and to this union five children were born.

     She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her family and watching old Western Movies.

     Those left to cherish her memory are:  her five children:  Charlena (Leverne) Chapman, Geraldine (Sam) Jeffrey, Patricia (Roy) Frierson, Gloria Johnson and James (Irene) Goodson; three sisters: Ruth Coe, Hannah Williams and Jannie Dixon; two sisters-in-law: Rosa Mae Hickman and Cheryl Hickman; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two special friends: Walter Goodson and Mildred Hicks; a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

     She was preceded in death in addition to her parents: six brothers: Jasper Hickman, Obie Hickman, James Arthur Hickman, Henry Hickman, Jr. and Thomas Hickman; two sisters: Viola Stevenson and Marlene Ross.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Charlena and Apostle Dr. Laverne Chapman, 2060 Philadelphia Street, Darlington.
