It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Zimmon family announce the transition of Mrs. Eddie Mae Zimmon of Florence, SC. “Edna Mae” as she was affectionately called peacefully transitioned on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Florence following an illness.
Celebration of life will be 12 Noon on Sunday, April 21st, 2024 in Center Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Hart No. 2 Cemetery.

Mrs. Eddie “Edna” Mae Zimmon was born June 21, 1943, in Darlington County, SC, a daughter of the late Lonnie Dewitt and the late Maddie Lucas Dewitt. She departed this life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Medical University of South Carolina – Florence after an illness.
Edna attended Darlington County Public Schools, graduating from Spaulding High School. She was a faithful, lifelong member of Center Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC, where she sung with the Celestial Choir until her health declined. Edna was employed at Turner’s Manufacturing and retired after 10 years of service.
Edna was united in marriage to the late Eddie Zimmon, Jr., and from this union was blessed with six children, including a son, Mark Alexander Zimmon, who preceded her in death.
Edna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and caring person. She will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are: her children, Kenneth (Latrice) Zimmon, Kelvin (Lachelle) Zimmon, Michelle Zimmon, Lamont (Nova) Zimmon, and Kenneth (Kwame) Zimmon; one sister: Mary Dewitt; one brother: Asberry Dewitt; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; in-laws: James (Johnnie Mae) Zimmon, Claire (Donald) Wood, Shirley Zimmon; other relatives and friends, including two special-friends: Hanna Williams and Georgia Williams; and one special daughter: Shirmira Green.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son; one brother: Nathaniel Dewitt; three sisters: Helen Green, Janie Simon, and Maggie Smith.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 213 Wiley Lane, Florence.
