It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the the Brown/Brockington families announces the passing of Mrs. Easter Mae Brown Brockington of the Dovesville Community of Darlington County. Mrs. Brockington expired on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask and social distancing for this service.

    Mrs. Easter Mae Brockington was born in Darlington, South Carolina on March 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Joe Brown and Bessie James Brown.  She transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.

    Easter received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System and attended Rosenwald High School.

    Easter was employed at Johnnie’s Truck Stop and Restaurant in Society Hill, SC for many years.

     She was preceded in death by five siblings: Fred James, Harry Brown, Willie Brown, Joe Brown, Jr. and Liza Brown.

    Those left to cherish her memories are: her three children: Fred Brown, Bobbie Brockington and Frederick Graham; her two sisters: Carrie Tedder and Marie Fletcher; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two special friends: Alex McCall and Randy Smith; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 3408 Charles Drive, Darlington.
