Obituary

“Peace, I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”   John 14:27

Mrs. Dorothy “Penny” Mae Williamson-Nettles was born in Darlington, South Carolina on March 9, 1950, a daughter of the late Sam Williamson, Sr., and Dorothy “Lula” Moses Williamson. Dorothy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

On May 31, 1983, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to James F. Nettles for 42 years.

She received her formal education in Darlington County Public Schools where she attended Mayo High School. She was employed in the hospitality industry for over 30 plus years before retiring in 2010. Dorothy loved her family and most importantly, all her children equally. She loved thrifting (yard sale) on Saturdays with her daughter Carolyn and friends. She spoke her mind whether you like it or not with the biggest heart always.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband/Caretaker of 42 years, James F. Nettles; her children, Calvin Williamson, Eddie Lee (Vickie) Williamson, Carolyn (Ronald, Sr.) Alford and Frankie Williamson.
