It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the transition from labor to reward for Mrs. Doris Bruce of Darlington.  Sister Bruce transitioned on Friday, May 1, 2020 in McLeod Hospice House. 

The family of Sister Doris Bruce in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, has decided to hold a private burial service. 

Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, May 4, 2020 from 9:00 am to 12 Noon in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home. A private burial was held today, May 4, 2020 at Faith Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Doris Johnson Bruce, born to the late Anna Johnson and John G. Coe, was born on June 15, 1947 in Darlington County, South Carolina. She transitioned from this life on May 1, 2020 after an extended illness.

Mother Doris Bruce was raised in Darlington County by Alma Smith. She received her education in Darlington County and was loved by many.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Elinda Muldrow and son, Roman Marcell Bruce.

Cherished memories of Doris will always remain in the hearts of her family. Her memories will be cherished by: her husband, Roland Lee Bruce, Sr.; her devoted children: Joseph (Margie) Muldrow, Sharon (District Elder Earl) McCollough, Adrian (Ralfanel) Scott, and Roland (Erica) Bruce; Grandchildren: Reshema, Shavonne, Quantavis, Roland, Ramona, Jonell, Nichole, Emacca, Josalyn, Faith, Earl, NyAsia, Honesty, Romaine, Kayla, Nykema, Nykayla, Natalie; 9 great-grandchildren; Siblings: John Wesley Coe, William “Monk” Coe, Billy (Gwen) Coe, Edward Lee Coe, Ernest Coe, Raymond Johnson, Patricia Johnson, and Carolyn Cooper; A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mother Bruce faithfully served at Christ Temple Holiness Church in various roles, such as missionary choir member, willing workers, and The Golden Jewels club. Mother Bruce was a Dietitian, well loved by many, always willing to lend a helping hand and her passion for cooking.

The memories of Mother Bruce will be forever cherished.
