Mrs. Diane Anderson McCall

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Anderson and McCall families announce the passing of Mrs. Diane Anderson McCall of Darlington, SC. Mrs. McCall transitioned on Tuesday, June 06, 2023 at McLeod Hospital of the Pee Dee following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00pm on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Mt. Rona Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Obituary

   “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”                                                                                         Revelation 21:4

    Mrs. Diane Anderson McCall was born August 29, 1957 in Darlington, SC, a daughter of the late David and Lynell Ham Anderson.  She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

    Diane received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Rosenwald High School Class of 1975.

    At an early age, she joined Red Hill Baptist Church.

    Diane lived most of her life in Darlington County and worked at Galey & Lord for 30 plus years.  She was also employed at Liberty Life Insurance Company and Walmart.

    Diane was united in marriage to the late Mr. Robert Lee McCall and to this union two children were born.

    Diane loved being a mother and grandmother.  She loved fishing, cooking and traveling. Diane was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

    Those left to cherish her memory are:  two children:  Demetress Anderson and Monique McCall both of Darlington, SC; two step-children: Michael Dixon, Sr. of Darlington, SC and Prince (Angel) Johnson of Lynchburg, SC; one sister, Wanda Williamson of Columbia, SC; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one aunt, Helen Ham of Darlington, SC; five sisters-in-law:  Martha Anderson of Darlington, SC, Jannie McCall, Carolyn Dubose, Deborah (Robert) Grier and Sylvia McCall all of Bronx, NY; one brother-in-law, Willie (Virginia) Johnson; a special friend, Bobby Mack; a special niece, Pamela McCall-Hunt of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    Diane Anderson McCall was preceded in death by:  her husband, Robert McCall; two brothers:  David Anderson, Jr. and Sammy Lee Anderson and one sister, Frances Anderson.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 2204 Sweet Bay Drive (Mechanicsville Community), Darlington, SC.
