Mrs. Delores Shaw Whitehead

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff and members of the Whitehead family announce the passing of Mrs. Delores Whitehead of Darlington.  Mrs. Whitehead passed early Friday morning, November 17, 2023 at her residence following an illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00AM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Chapel. Final Disposition will occur at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Road, Darlington. 

Obituary

Mrs. Delores Shaw Whitehead was born on April 12,1943 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Lucille Shaw.  She departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her residence.

Delores received her formal education in the Philadelphia, PA public schools, graduating from Kensington High School in 1961. She was employed with School District II in Colorado Springs as a Food Service Worker for 19 years.

She was united in marriage to Joe Charles Whitehead, Sr. this union was blessed with a son, Keith Whitehead and a step-son, Joe Charles Whitehead, Jr.

Delores enjoyed sewing and baking. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Whitehead and her mother, Lucille Shaw.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Joe Charles “JC” Whitehead, Sr.; her stepson, Joe Charles Whitehead, Jr.;  her sisters:  Jeannette (Kevin) Walker, Arlene Shaw and Rosa Brown; three brothers: Marvin Shaw, Nathaniel Shaw and Raymond Shaw; a brother-in-law, Samuel (Geraldine) Cannon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends.
