Mrs. Carrie Brockington Rouse

It with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Carrie Brockington Rouse. Mrs. Rouse passed on Tuesday, August 02, 2022 at the Medical University of South Carolina- Florence. 

Funeral service is 4:30pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 in Wild’s Quarter Cemetery with Bishop Wesley Belin, officiating. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

    Mrs. Carrie Lou Brockington Rouse was born in Turbeville, SC on January 27, 1936 a daughter of the late Linwood D. Brockington and raised by her grandmother the late Cornelius Brockington Bracey.  She peacefully entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Medical University of South Carolina Health Florence Medical Center, Florence, SC.

    Carrie attended Clarendon County Public Schools.  She was a former employee of Clanton’s Cafeteria, Darlington Food Program and Café in Clarendon County.

    Carrie was a outgoing, lovable, friendly, kind and well-known person.  She never met a stranger.  Carrie Lou also helped raise many kids in the Pine Village Community for over 43 years.

    Carrie was united in marriage to the late James Rouse, Sr.

    Those who shared the joys of life with her and survive to cherish her memory are:  Three sons: Allen (Patricia) Rouse, Eligha (Elease) Rouse and Curtis Rouse all of Darlington, SC; two daughters: Edrena Brockington Patterson and Thomasena Rouse Jones of Darlington, SC; two step-daughters: Rudell Rouse and Elaine Rouse Miller both of Philadelphia, PA; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by:  two sons: James Wheeler “Brock” Brockington and Leonard (Catha) Rouse; her granddaughter, Chikari Douglas Rouse; two great grandchildren: Ny’Keisha Eunika Makayla Rouse and Javen Douglas Graham

Visitation is held at the residence, 310 King Edwards Avenue, Darlington.
