Mrs. Brenda Richardson Bynum

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Richardson and Bynum families announces the passing of Mrs. Brenda Richardson Bynum. Mrs. Bynum passed on Wednesday night, November 23, 2022 at her daughter's residence following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Flat Creek Baptist Church.  Interment will follow. 

Obituary

“For now I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”                        II Timothy 4:6-8

Mrs. Brenda Deloris Richardson Bynum was born in Darlington, SC on June 19, 1953 a daughter of the late Ollie Bell Richardson.  She entered into her final resting place on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the home of her daughter.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1972.

Brenda was united in marriage to the late Rommel J. Bynum and to this union two children were born.

She was a life member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where she singed with the Mass Choir and any other capacity needed.

Brenda lived all her life in Darlington, SC where she was gainfully employed at General Electric of Florence and lastly at Georgia Pacific until her health declined.

Brenda was a very nice and generous person and a sweet person to her family especially her grandchildren.  To know her was to love her.

Those left to cherish her memory are:  a son, Tony (Dina) Bynum of Ashburn, VA; her daughter, Romella Bynum of Florence, SC; five grandchildren: Brandon Bynum, Jordan  Bynum, Marquis Bynum, Justin Bynum and Juliana Bynum; her four brothers: Alfred C. (Iesha) Taylor, Hercules Richardson, Douglas Richardson, Melvin Richardson and Leroy Richardson; an aunt, Frances Foster of Newark, NJ; a special friend/sister, Olinda Hunter (Billy) Gee; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Jenkins; three sisters-in-law, Juanita Richardson, Evelyn (Andrew) Thomas and Marcella Jenkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers:  Randolph Taylor and Lessie Richardson; a host of aunts and uncles.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of her daughter, Romella Bynum, 2432 Willwood Gardens, Apt. F., Florence, SC.
