Mrs. Betty Pierce Gregg

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Gregg family announce the passing of Mrs. Betty Pierce Gregg of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Gregg transitioned on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her residence after an illness.

Public viewing will be held 1:00 - 4:00 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S. Main St, Darlington, SC. 

A wake will be held 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S. Main St, Darlington, SC.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at New Providence Baptist Church, 2151 Cashua Ferry Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow at Darlington Memorial Cemetery, D. Ave and Friendship St, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

    Mrs. Betty Pierce Gregg was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 4, 1948, a daughter of the late General Pierce and Christen Bacote Pierce.  She entered her final resting place Thursday morning, April 24, 2025, at her residence after a short illness.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School.

    She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.  Betty was employed at Marlowe of Florence where she retired in 1998.

    Betty was united in marriage to the late Walter Gregg, Sr. and to this union three children were born.

    Those left to cherish her memory are: a daughter, Vanessa Shaw of Darlington, SC; two sons:  Isaiah L. Gregg of Darlington, SC and Walter (Vivan) Priece of Charlotte, NC; one granddaughter, Deja Gurley of Florence, SC; two great grandchildren: Imaree Gurley and Ryett Gurley both of Florence, SC; three sisters: Christen Henigan, Shirley Williams, and Sarah (James) Galloway all of Darlington, SC; several nieces, nephews, cousins  and friends.
