A LIFE BEGINS

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”  ~  2 Timothy 4:6-8

Mrs. Betty Jean Mack Jackson was born in Darlington on March 3, 1958, the fourth of the late Deacon Cleveland and Janie Mae Simon Mack, Sr. She entered into eternal rest early Thursday morning, July 7, 2022 after a sudden illness.

At an early age she attended and joined Lawson Grove Baptist Church and later in 2001 joined and faithfully attended the Trinity Baptist Church (Columbia, SC). She served on the Greeter’s Ministry.

She was a graduate of Mayo High School, Class of 1976 where she participated in the chorus and Allstate Chorus of SC.

Betty worked various jobs in her early years of employment, but most of her employment was with home health care. She was employed as a supervisor with Carolina Home Health, and a private caregiver to so many people in Darlington and Florence, SC. She was presently employed as a teacher’s assistant at Temple Christian Academy where she taught and loved children with such passion and dedication.

She loved to sing, and she sang and traveled with her siblings, The Spiritualettes of Darlington for over 38 years.

Betty was a beautiful person, admired for her sweet, humble, and caring spirit. Her calling was to be a caregiver in every sense of the word. Her nurturing motherly instinct was apparent to all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, family member, and friend. Her brothers, Cleveland Garfield Mack, Jr., Robert Blaney Mack, and sister, Tina Ann Mack, preceded her in death. She will be missed by her family and friends who dearly loved her.

Those who shared the joys of life with her and survive to cherish her memories are: her loving daughter, Kitania J. Sanders and granddaughter, Kadizia Sanders of Darlington, SC; two brothers: James (Cassandra) Mack, Sr. and Alvis Mack both of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Rev. Vernette (Ralph) Dees of Columbia, SC, CleEster Mack and Yvonne Mack Colclough, both of Darlington, SC; two special family members, Rev. Leroy (Michelle) Jackson, Jr. of Locust Ga. and Tara M. Jackson of Darlington, SC; a great uncle, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends who regret her passing.
