Mrs. Betsie Ann Williamson Bruce

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mrs. Bestie Ann Williamson Bruce of Darlington. Mrs. Bruce transitioned on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Celebration of life will be 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 18 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church with no more than 50 individuals identified by the family. Social distancing and mask wearing is required.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Betsie Ann Williamson Bruce was born in Darlington County on February 11, 1939 a daughter of the late Willie and Lucille Stevenson Williamson. She entered into her final resting place on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after an illness. 

Betsie received Christ at an early age joining Macedonia Baptist Church but later moved her membership to Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her death. 

Betsie attended the public schools in Darlington County and played high school basketball as the center for Mayo High School. She had a deep love for high school basketball. She continued even in her elderly years to share her stories of victories and triumphs during the many games she played. 

Betsie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and family member. She was known as the go to person in the family. The family leader, the one who took charge and made the decisions whether you liked them or not. She spent many of her working years in dietary services, so she was a wonderful cook. 

She was a joy to be around, she loved to talk and hold the center stage. All who came around enjoyed her jokes and her stories. To say the least she provided delightful conversations that left you in stitches.
