Mrs. Bessie Edwards Muldrow

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Bessie Edwards Muldrow of Darlington. Ms. Muldrow passed on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in a Florence hospital following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing at this service. 

Obituary

Mrs. Bessie Edwards Muldrow was born in Darlington, South Carolina on December 12th, 1957, a daughter of the late Leo Edwards, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Lide Edwards. She entered her final resting place on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, Florence, SC.

Bessie received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1976.

She attended St. Mathews United Church Apostolic, The First Church of God and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

She had a great love for her family and for life.  In 1983, Bessie was united in marriage to Joseph “Shack” Muldrow, Sr.; this union was blessed with a daughter and three bonus children.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her children: Quatesha (Marvin) Thomas of the home; Joseph (Margie) Muldrow, Sharon (Earl) McCullough all of Darlington, SC and Dehaven Lee of North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren: Reshema, Jonell, Jasalyn, Marquez, Kentrell, Jorrean, Faryn, Nyasia, Earl, Faith, Quantasia, Mia, Kiya and Desmond; eight great grandchildren: Kameron, Ramel, Shamel, Madison, Nyra, Bralyn, Greyson and Earl III; three sisters: Pearl Shepard, Cathy (Henry) Faulkner both of New York and Betty Jean Edwards of Connecticut; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Gloria) Muldrow, William (Gloria) Mack, James (Kathy) Muldrow, Mae Frances Sabb and Juanita Muldrow; a host nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearly; a special friend, Patricia Sawyer; her companion, Bobby Bruce; other relatives and friends.

Bessie was preceded by: her husband, Joseph “Shack” Muldrow; her siblings: Alphonso Edwards, Eva Mae Pemberton, Jimmy Edwards, Dorothy Lee Edwards Bank and Leo Edwards, Jr.

Visitation for relatives and friends are held at daily from 3:00-8:00pm at the residence, 413 South Main St., Apt-1A, Darlington.
