Mrs. Barbara Arthur

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Barbara Arthur of Darlington. Mrs. Aruthur expired on Monday, August 24, 2020 at her residence. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.  Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing. 

Obituary

     Mrs. Barbara Lestina Mouzon-Arthur was born April 7, 1947 in Effingham, SC the daughter of the late Corbett Mouzon, Sr. and Louise Washington Mouzon.  She entered into her eternal rest on Monday, August 24, 2020 after an illness.

     “Bobbie”, as she was affectionately called, received her formal education in the Florence County Public Schools.

     She was united in marriage to the late Lenis Arthur, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with four children.

    She lived most of her adult life in Baltimore, Maryland working as a Cook for numerous food service organizations.  After retiring, she moved back to South Carolina and continued working in the food industry.  “Bobbie” loved to cook and she loved listening to Marvin Gaye.  Most of all, she loved her family.  As a young adult, she became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.  She will be greatly missed by her Baltimore, MD family.

    She was preceded in addition to her parents and her husband; she was preceded in death also by a brother, Corbett Mouzon, Jr.

     Those who shared the joys of life with her and are survivors to cherish her memory are:  her three sons: David (Marcella) Arthur of Florence, SC, Lenis Arthur, Jr. of Darlington and Tony (Tynika) Arthur of Richmond, VA; one daughter, Barbara Ann Coleman of Darlington, SC; six sisters: Louise Baker. Allie Benjamin, Betty Barr, Mamie Brown, Willa (Roger) Graham and Emma Patterson (Charles) all of Darlington, SC; one brother, James Mouzon of Darlington, SC; nine grandchildren: Antonio (Erica) Arthur of Baltimore, MD, Brandon Arthur of Ft. Carson, CO, Markus Arthur of Florence, SC, Janika Taylor, Tavon Davis, Tynisha Davis all of Richmond, VA, Quinten Coleman of Gastonia, NC, Tyler Colman and Kiara Coleman both of Darlington, SC; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
