It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Willie “Teniche” McCullough of Boston, MA, formally of Lamar, SC. Mr McCullough passed on Monday, September 05, 2022 in Boston. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022 in Plaza Memorial Cemetery, Lamar.  Interment fill follow. 

Obituary

    “Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.  He that believeth in me; though he were dead, yet shall he live:  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.’”  John 11:25-26

     Mr. Willie McCullough, affectionately know as “Tenichi”, was born January 9, 1945 in Darlington County, South Carolina the eldest child of 16 children to the late Jasper and Julia Bennett McCullough.  He departed this life on Monday September 4, 2022 at his home.

     “Tenichi” received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System. At age, 17, he decided to move to Roxbury, Massachusetts.  There, he met and married the love of his life Cora Lee Vicks McCullough for 35 plus years until she transitioned.  From this union he raised 10 step-children.  He later met and married Theresa McCullough until she transitioned four years later.

     “Tenichi” was employed at Jaboe Company for 20 years and at Ryan Company for 6 years until his health declined.  He attended church service in Roxbury, Massachusetts.  His favorite hobby was cooking and making people laugh.  He always would say, “I cook like Momma Doll.” 

    He was preceded in death by his parents:  Jasper and Julia McCullough; his siblings: Sylvester McCullough, Donald McCullough, Jerome McCullough and Allen McCullough; a brother-in-law, Maxie Spann; one nephew, Chester McCullough, Jr. and three niece, Ashley Nicole Wilson, Baby Shavon Simon and Candis McCullough.

     “Tenichi” leaves the following to cherish his memory:   his four loving sisters: Alice Spann, Elder Virigina (Eddie) Robinson both of Timmonsville, SC, Mary Ann (Henry) Burgess of Lamar, SC and Lisa (Jackie) Hughes of Florence, SC; seven brothers: Jasper McCullough, Jimmy McCullough both of Boston, MA, James (Hattie) McCullough of Lynchburg, SC, William McCullough of Timmonsville, SC, Chester (Esther Mae) McCullough, Larry (Corine) McCullough both of Lamar, SC and Ronald (Lillian) McCullough of Timmonsville, SC; his sisters-in-law: Carolyn McCullough and Delores McCullough; two aunts: Minister Viola (Rev. Troy) Shaw of Timmonsville, SC and Lorina Clark of TX; one uncle, Edward “Bro” Bennett of Florence, SC; a special cousin, Willie Mae Bennett-Fripp of Boston, MA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Alice Spann, 3317 Sally Hill Road, Timmonsville, SC.
