It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Willie "Son" Warren, Jr.  Mr. Warren peacefully transitioned on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at St. John United Methodist Church, Oates Community, Lamar. Interment will follow.  Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing during this service.   

Obituary

     Mr. Willie Warren, Jr. was born December 27, 1931 a son of the late Hampton and Cora Mack Warren.  He entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his residence in Darlington, SC after a short illness.

     At an early age, he joined Shiloh United Methodist Church.  He and his family moved to New York and while there, he attended Allen A.M.E. Church.  He was employed at Eagle Electric Manufacturing Company until retiring after twenty-eight years of service.  After retirement, he and his family returned to Darlington, SC where he joined St. John United Methodist Church.

     In 1951, he was united in marriage to Miss Sylvia Lide; this union was blessed with three sons, two daughters and a step-son.  He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Warren, Jr.

     “Son”, as he was affectionately called, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and family member.  He will be dearly missed by all.

     Those who shared the joys and sorrows of life with him and survive to cherish his memory are: his two daughters:  Linda Warren and Shelby Warren both of Darlington, SC; three sons: Anthony Warren of Darlington, SC, Donald Warren of Bennettsville, SC and William Lide of Darlington, SC; his grandson, Termaine Warren (Gladys) of Florence, SC; five granddaughters: Yakema (Ekefio) Shaw of Darlington, SC, Shantasia (Kenton) Williams of Robersonville, NC, Shameika Bell of Brooklyn, NY, Ahjanai Warren of Stanford, Florida and Tay’Lani Jones of Point Pleasant, NJ; twelve great grandchildren; a special daughter, Stephanie Bell; two sisters-in-law: Estellar Peterson of Darlington, SC and Mattie Lide of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

   He was preceded in death by nine sisters and two brothers.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence 643 Weaver Street, Darlington. Please adhere to mask wearing upon visiting the residence.
