It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Willie Jackson, Jr. Mr. Jackson passed on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in McLeod Hospice House following an illness.
Funeral service is 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 on the grounds of the Darlington Elk's Lodge. Interment will follow with military honors at the Florence National Cemetery. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distance while on this service.
Obituary
Mr. Willie “Jack” Jackson, was born in Florence County, South Carolina on October 24, 1942, a son of the late Beatrice Sumter Jackson and Wilbur Jackson, Sr. He departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at McLeod Regional Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina after an illness.
Willie received his formal education in Florence County Public Schools. After graduation, he was drafted in the United States Army, where he served three (3) years receiving an Honorable Discharge.
At a young age, he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church, Timmonsville, South Carolina.
Willie was employed by Wellman Industries & Dupont for several years. Later, operating Jack’s Radiator/U-Haul for total combine of 28 years in Darlington, South Carolina.
Willie had a great love & enjoyment of music which providing many opportunities for him to display his DJ skills for various events. Also, member of Elks Lodge of Darlington, South Carolina.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are: one son, Christopher (Lottie) Shannon of Charlotte, NC; two daughters: Shelia (Anthony) Burgess of Florence, SC and Ashley (Omar) Bishop of Darlington, SC; two brothers: Wilbur (Vivian) Jackson of Darlington, SC and Louie (Willette) Perkins of Marion, SC; one sister, Patty Contee of Darlington, SC; 13 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; Special Friend, Ravenel Gardner; Special Caregivers: Timothy Smith and Eveyln Canty; Special Nephew, Terry (Judith) Jackson of Snellville, GA; long with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Maurice Jackson.
