“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Mr. Willie Franklin Washington was born on October 19, 1959 in Timmonsville, South Carolina.  He was the son of Emma Lee Washington and the late Willie Clarence Waiters.  Willie transitioned on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his residence following a sudden illness.

Willie attended schools in the Darlington High School and graduated from Spaulding High School.  After graduating, Willie attended Florence-Darlington Technical College majoring in tool and die.

Willie worked in the various jobs and his last employment was a dietitian at the South Carolina Governor’s School in Hartsville, South Carolina until his health decline.

He was an avid fan for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Willie was an excellent cook.  If you could eat it, Willie could cook it.  He loved family and was willing to do whatever to ensure family was together. If he could help you, Willie was there.  His assistance much so much to others in their time of need, although he was experiencing his own life’s trials. His mother, Emma Lee, meant so much to him and he made it his business to communicate with her daily.

Those who cherish the joys of Willie and mourn his sudden transition are: his mother and step father, Emma Lee and Elijah McClutcher of Jamaica, NY; a daughter, Akilah Washington; a brother Charles Waiters; a sister, Williette Sowell; an aunt, Pastor Shirley Damon; two uncles, Jeffery Haywood (Victoria) and Tyrone Haywood; a special cousins, Anthony (Keisha) Washington, Eugene Jackson; members of the Williams, Robinson and Hickman Families; a host of other cousins, other family members and friends.
