With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home and members of the Shannon family announce the passing of Mr. Willard “JJ” Shannon of Darlington, SC. Mr. Shannon transitioned Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Lee County following an accident. 

The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Derrick and Katrina Boseman, 3660 Bonny Blue Court, Timmonsville, SC.

Public viewing will be held 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.

Funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Noon, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, 552 E. Billy Farrow Rd, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

    Mr. Willard Julius “J. J.” Shannon, Jr. was born April 28,1987, in Darlington, South Carolina a son of Ruth Brenda Boseman and the late Wilburt Junnis Shannon. He departed this life Tuesday, February 10, 2026, due to injuries from a vehicular accident in Lee County.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools, graduating from Darlington High School Class of 2006.

    Willard was a member of Greater Mt. Sinai Outreach Deliverance Holiness Church in Timmonsville, SC.

    “J.J.” lived all his life in Darlington, SC where he was gainfully employed.  His last employment was at Coca-Cola Consolidated in Bishopville, SC, as a forklift driver.

    He was united in marriage in 2020 to the former Miss Timiko Baines.

    Those left to cherish his memories are:  his wife, Timiko B. Shannon of the home; his mother, Ruth Brenda Shannon of Myrtle Beach, SC; his children: Kamaria Shannon, Raquelle Shannon, Jordan Washington all of Darlington, SC, Justen Shannon, Jerrell Shannon both of Virginia, Justice Dixon, Eniece Baines and Kadesh Sprill all of Darlington, SC; his siblings: Charmaine Boseman Garrison of Myrtle Beach, SC and Derrick (Katrina) Boseman of Timmonsville, SC; aunts and uncles:  Ethel Shannon of Connecticut, George Peebles, GloriaJosey, Rosemary Boseman, Betty Shannon, Wilhemena Samuel, Ebenezea Mullins, Carrie Mae Quick, Donna (Willie) Dickey all of Darlington, SC, Sabrina (Stacy) Cooper, Theresa, Boseman, Danny Boseman all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michael, Peebles, Darryl, Peebles and Preston Thompson all of New York, several nieces, nephews, cousins; two special friends, Otis Dickey and Justin Coe; other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburt Shannon; his paternal grandparents: Joseph & Ethel Shannon; his maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Campbell Boseman and a brother-in-law, Parrish “P.J.” Gattison.
