Mr. Willard "Billy" Thomas, Jr.

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Willard Edward Thomas, Jr., affectionately known as Billy.  "Billy" passed on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his residence.  

Funeral service is 12 Noon on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Faith Memorial Garden. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

    Mr. Willard “Billy” Edward Thomas, Jr. was born in Darlington, South Carolina on June 5, 1955 a son of the late Willard Thomas, Sr. and Donella Green Thomas.  He entered into his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his residence.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1973.

    He worked various jobs and was a Jack of all trades.  Being a Mechanic was his favorite of all.

    “Billy”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was the life of our family and to know him was to love him.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

    He was preceded in death by: his mother, Donella G. Thomas; his father, Willard Thomas, Sr. and his brother, Calvin Thomas.

   Those left to cherish his memory are:  his wife, BernetaThomas; six children: Jerva James of Florence, SC, Shawna Samuel, Willard Thomas, III, Michael Poole (Mecah), DamainoThomas all of Darlington, SC and Cassandra (Wiser Lee) Ham of Hartsville, SC; five brothers: Wilbur Thomas (his twin), Jimmy Thomas, Archie Thomas, Gerald Thomas and Eric Thomas all of Darlington, SC; two sisters: Willie Mae Smith and Cynthia (Ronald) Jackson both of Darlington, SC; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  A very special friend, Beatrice Williamson whom he shared a home for 20 years.

Visitation for Mr. Thomas is held at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Ronald Jackson, 405 Limit Street, Darlington.
