Mr. Ulysses "CEE-DOG" George Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Ulysses George of Lamar, SC.  Mr. George passes on Sunday, December 5, 2021 in MUSC-Florence.  

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in Plaza Memorial Cemetery.  Interment will follow.  Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service. 

Obituary

     Mr. Ulysses George was born in Lamar, South Carolina on February 23, 1949, a son of Minnie Lee Blathers George and the late Alton George, Sr.  He entered into his final resting place on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Medical University Of South Carolina Health- Florence Medical Center, Florence, SC.

     He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School District graduating from Spaulding High School Class of 1969.

     Most of his adult life he lived in Columbia, SC where he worked at Shelley’s Ice Company, Days Inn of Columbia.  In 1993, he returned home to Lamar, SC where he was united in marriage to Alberta Lewis George.   He was employed at Industrial Paving as a Truck Driver where he retired in 2013.

    “Cee-Dog”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, live his life to the fullest.  He loved watching his sports.  His favorite teams are: South Carolina Gamecocks, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

    Survivors left to cherish is memory are:  his wife of 28 years, Alberta L. George of the home; two grandchildren: Octavia Davis of Bishopville, SC and Jimmy Davis of Fayetteville, NC; his mother, Minne Lee George; one great grandson, Kingston Davis; a god-son, Torien Carroway; his siblings: Virginia (Allen) Bacote of Darlington, SC, Dr. Mary E. Timmons of Florence, SC, Wesley George, Ronnie George both of Lamar, SC, Alton George, Sr. of Newport News, VA and Anthony C. George of Florence, SC; sisters-in-law, Edell George of Lamar, SC, Rometta Patrick, Oneida Lewis, Velvia Munroe, Darlene Lewis all of New York, Alfreeda Lewis, Carolyn Lattimore, Dianne Spann all of Columbia, SC, Brenda Boyd of Georgia and Arlene Branche of Lamar, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; his lifelong friend, James “Sonny” Maple of Lamar, SC.

     He was preceded in death by:  a daughter, Jackie Davis; two sisters: Berthania Dargan and Iva Lee Brunson; a brother, Bubba George; a nephew, Elandus Prince; a brother-in-law, Alvester Lewis and two sisters-in-law: Darlene George and Julia George.

     Visitation is held at the residence, 665 Prosperity Drive, Lamar.
