Mr. Tommy Ike Douglas

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Douglas family announce the passing of Mr. Tommy Ike Douglas of Darlington, SC. Mr. Douglas transitioned Sunday, May 18, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

Starting Tuesday, May 20, 2025, visitation for family and friends will be held 3:00-8:00 PM daily at 134 Thompson Dr, Society Hill, SC.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Bethesda Baptist Church, 208 Church St, Society Hill, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Obituary

      Mr. Tommy Ike Douglas was born May 8, 1953, in Darlington, South Carolina, a son of the late Thomas Douglas and Jimorus Drayton Douglas.  He departed this life on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

     He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System where he attended Rosenwald High School, Society Hill, SC.     

Tommy worked for E. D. Pew Timber Company, Inc. from August, 2006 until his retirement. His employer, Doug Pew, says he was a good employee and served the company in any way that he could to make it a better work environment. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him to include those he worked with for so many years.

     He was united in marriage to Catherine Sanders Douglas and to this union two sons were born.

     Tommy was preceded in death by:  his parents: Thomas Douglas and Jimorus Douglas; his siblings:  Oscar Douglas, John Henry Douglas, James Edward Douglas, Herman Douglas, Jonny Ike Douglas and Bernice Harrison.

     Those left to cherish his memory are:  his loving and devoted wife, Catherine Douglas of the home; two loving sons: Travis Bernard Douglas and Tommy Edward Douglas; a granddaughter he adored, Lilah Anya Douglas; a sister, Mary Arsenia Isaac; several sisters and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
