Mr. Tommie Lee Warren

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Tommie Lee Warren of Darlington, SC. Mr. Warren transitioned on Friday, October 20, 2023 at a Darlington nursing facility following extended illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

     Mr. Tommie Lee Warren was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 30, 1944, a son of the late Roosevelt “Skeeter” Warren and Annie Bell Gandy Warren.  He peacefully entered into his final resting place on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Medford Nursing Home, Darlington, SC.

     Tommie Lee received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System.  As a young boy, Tommie, attended St. James United Methodist Church. He loved the Lord and was always singing or painting.  Tommie also loved drawing, his family and friends.  His favorite saying was “That’s Mean” and no matter what, he would always greet you with a smile or a song.

     He lived all his life in Darlington County where he was employed as a painter for Tadlock until his health failed.

     Those left to cherish his memory are:  a sister, Annie Lee Warren of Boston, MA; his nieces: Latasha (Edward) Samuel-McCurry, Linda (Clifford) McCoy, April Thomas all of Darlington, SC, Kathleen (J.C.) Campbell of Brooklyn, NY; two nephews: Reginald McCurry and Herbert McCurry of Darlington, SC; a special niece, Shamoney Pendergrass of Dovesville, SC; a special great niece, Katrina McCurry; a host of other nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

    He was preceded in death by:  one sister, Rosa Lee McCurry; one brother, Alphonzo “Bubba” Warren; two favorite cousins: Yvonne Alexander and Ernest “Bo” Edwards.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a niece Latasha McCurry, 607 South Main Street, Darlington, SC.
