Mr. Si’dreek Maurice Player

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Si’dreek Maurice Player of Darlington. Mr. Player expired on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in Darlington, SC. 

Funeral service is 2:30pm on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.

    Mr. Si’dreek Maurice Player bka “Sid” was born in July 16, 2007 in Florence County, South Carolina the son of Shameka(Daniel) Gavins and Sidney Player. He departed from this life on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC,

   “Sid” attended Darlington County Adult Education and was only a week shy from receiving his GED.

     He was a loving son, grandson, brother and friend. He was everyone’s protector, FAMILY WAS ALWAYS FIRST!! 

    Those left to cherish his memories:  his mother, Shameka Delane and step-father, Daniel Gavins both of the home; his biological father, Sidney Player of Darlington, SC; maternal great grandmother, Katie Jackson of Darlington, SC; his maternal grandmother, Hester Johnson of the home; his maternal grandfather, Luther B. Johnson, Sr. of Darlington, SC; his paternal grandfather, Parrish (Carrie) Williamson of Darlington, SC; his paternal grandmother, Johnnie Mae Williamson of Darlington, SC; his brothers and sisters: Jada (Rakimma) Galloway, Takyrica McKenzie, Shantia (Rachel Black) McKenzie, Skylet Mckenzie, Camille McKenzie, Sidney Player Jr., Brittany Bess, Brantley Bess, Synae Player and SidariusPlayer; two nieces of the home: Jimeyia Goodman and Sa’Royalty McCutcheon; two aunts: Shanette (Willie)Delane/Taylor, Melody Williamson; one uncle, Luther Johnson Jr.; a special god-mother, Tasha Mack; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.     

     He was preceded in death by:  his niece, Shamari Player and cousin, Khalil Ross.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a grandmother, Hester Johnson, 317 Pineville Road, Darlington.
