Mr. Shawnquavis S. "SHY" Sparks

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Shawnquavis S. Sparks of Lamar, SC. Mr. Sparks passed on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in Lamar, SC.  

Funeral service will be 2:00PM on Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the Church Yard of Power House of Faith Ministries, Davis St, Lamar, Pastor Tamara Durant, officiating. Interment will follow in the Plaza Memorial Cemetery. Please ahere to mask wearing and social distancing at this service. 

Obituary

    Mr. Shawnquavis Shyka Sparks, also known as “Shy”, was born March 17, 2001 in Hartsville, SC a son of Latoya Sparks and Edward L. Robinson. He was reared by his guardians, Louise and Johnny McNeil, Jr.  He entered into his final resting place on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in Lamar, SC.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System.

   Those left to cherish his memory are:  his guardian/grandparents: Louise “Patricia” McNeil and Johnny McNeil, Jr. who reared him as their own; his mother, Latoya Sparks; his father an step-mother, Edward L. (Shayla) Robinson; his two sons: Noah Latrell Sparks and Shawnquavis ShykaSparks, Jr.; his three sisters: Shamya McCants, Zykeria Sparks and Aaleiyah L. Robinson; his two brothers: Edward L. Robinson, Jr. and Ethan L. Robinson; two special sisters: Latosha Dolford and Regina Torain; his maternal grandmother, Linda Sparks; his paternal grandfather, Edward L. Robinson; his paternal grandmothers: Bobbie Robinson and Geraldine Benjamin; special cousins: Tashianna Gainey and Aazon Cannon; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 635 Bay Branch Road, Lamar. Please wear a mask while visiting the residence.
