Mr. Shaquan Brown

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Shaquan Brown of Society Hill.  Mr. Brown expired early Sunday morning, July 12, 2020.  He was the son of Ms. Janice Brown. 

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Mt. Rona Baptist Church cemetery. Interment will follow. Social distancing and mask wearing are required at this service. 


  “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil:  For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; … And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.”          23rd Psalm 4 and 6 verses

    Mr. Shaquan Devonte’ Brown was born in Darlington County on November 16, 1995, a son of Ms. Janice Brown and Mr. David Scott.  He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 12, 2020.

    He received his formal education in Darlington County Public School graduating from Darlington High School, Class of 2014. He further his education at Florence- Darlington Technical College graduating with certification in welding. 

    Shaquan was gainfully employed in the Darlington County and was a full time employee with the Wilson Senior Clinic at Medford Nursing Home for several years. 

   ”Quan” as he was affectionately called by family and friends was a fun and loving person. He loved being with his family and friends.  To know Quan was definitely to love him.  He will be missed by all who knew him. 

     Those left to cherish his memories are: his mother: Janice Brown of Cheraw, SC; his father and step mother, David (Felicia) Scott of Darlington, his siblings: Venike Brown of Wallace, SC, Somaria and Malik Brown of Cheraw, SC, Brandon Gardner of Aynor, SC, Keyanna (Quantravis) Buchanan of Seattle, WA, Ganera (Devon) Jackson of Florence, SC,  and Davida and Davione Scott, both of Darlington, SC; his maternal grandmother: Mrs. Alean Brown of Darlington, SC; his aunts and uncles: Barbara Green , Freda (Elder Donald) Wright, Franchesca (DeAndre) Coleman, Mildred Scott, Melonie (Lawrence) DuBose, Roger(Marilyn) McClain, Alexander(Louberta)Scott, Ezekiel (Pandora) Scott, Michael Scott, Lincoln Scott, Ellison (Fatisha) Scott, Kevin (Margaret) Jackson, and Jermaine Brown , his grandaunts, Rosa Mae Allen; Alease Moore; his special friend, Rodasia Thomas; a special aunt and sister: Dorothy Smith and Calandra Smith of home; special cousins: Lamar Butler, Tyrone Scott, Jr., Lahkym Mebane, Darius Bacote, Deon Graham, Joseph Scott and Tyquan Jackson; several nieces, nephews, great aunts,  great uncles, other cousins, relatives and friends.  

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of an aunt, Dorothy "Dot" Smith, 4124 Society Hill Road, Society Hill, SC.
