It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Graham family announce the passing of Mr. Russell Graham of Society Hill, SC. Mr. Graham passed on Friday, June 23, 2023 at his residence following an illness.
Family and Friends Visitation Hour will be 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.
Obituary
Mr. Russell Lee Graham entered into his eternal rest on Friday, June 23, 2023 at his residence following an illness. He was born on December 29, 1952 in Darlington, SC a son of the late Willie Graham, Jr. and Alwildia Zimmerman Graham.
He received his formal education in Darlington County Schools System graduating from Rosenwald High School Class of 1971.
He served his Country in the United States Marine Corps of which he was honorable discharged in May 1972.
Russell made his home in Albany, NY where he was employed as a chef by the New York State Department of Aging for over 23 years. He also served as a chef on the Captain J. P.for 15 years.
In his leisure time, Russell enjoyed fishing, dancing, but his favorite hobby of all was cooking. He and his cousin loved Russell’s cocktails.
Russell is preceded in death in addition to his parents; hissisters, Gwendolyn Graham Fowler and Dorothy Graham Alford; his brother, William Bill Zimmerman and step-son,Kimo Riley.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his only surviving sibling, Louvenia Graham Harrison of Albany NY; his daughter, Illandria “Mookie” Graham of Schenectady, NY; his son,Darnell (Lisa Lavelle) Riley of Troy, NY; a step-daughter, Lekenya Riley of Troy NY; a son, Russell “RJ” Graham, Jr. of Albany, NY; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. A special thank you to his Hospice team: Stacy Beaver, Stephanie Shaw and Bobbi Nutt.
