With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Blue family announce the passing of Mr. Ronald “True” Blue of Darlington, SC. Mr. Blue transitioned Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC, after an illness.
Visitation for family and friends will be held starting Sunday, November 30, 2025, daily from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at 119 Pepper Dr, Darlington, SC.
Public viewing will be held 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Liberty Christian Assembly Church, 2281 Sunday Rd, Hartsville, SC. Interment with military honors will be follow at 2:00 PM, United States National Cemetery-Florence, 803 E National Cemetery Rd, Florence, SC.
Obituary
Ronald Anthony Blue, “affectionately known as “True Blue,” “Ronnie”, “Cool Blue,” “True,” and “Vide”, was born on January 9th, 1960, in Brooklyn New York, to the late Lizzie Humbert. He was lovingly adopted and raised by the late Fannie Damon Blue & Joseph Blue. Ronald was a resident of Darlington, South Carolina, and was called home peacefully on November 27th, 2025 at Columbia Dorn VA Health Care System after an illness.
Ronald received his education in Darlington County Public schools and was a graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1978. As a Mayo Golden Bear, Ronald developed a love for sports, playing baseball, basketball and football. He excelled in athletics, achieving record-setting success that continues to stand as a testament to his talent and dedication. After high school, Ronald enlisted in the US Army and served for three years before he was medically discharged. Ronald married Bobbie Jean McDaniel, and together they were blessed with three daughters.
Ronald was cherished for his charismatic and animated personality. He never met a stranger and had a natural ability to make others laugh with his sharp humor and warm spirit. To know him was to love him, and his presence brought joy to every room he entered.
He is preceded in death by: his mother, Lizzie Humbert; his parents: Fannie and Joseph Blue; two brothers, Leon Damon and Leland Humbert; one sister, Rebeccah Blue; his beloved granddaughter, Nyasia Blue and several loving aunts and uncles.
Ronald leaves to cherish his memory, his three daughters: Antinika Blue (Dontae Thomas) of Darlington, SC, Samethea Blue and Destiny Blue-Melvin (Michael Melvin) both of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren: Jaiden Lyde, Jarek Lyde, Dontae Thomas, Jr. and Aniyah Thomas; one stepsister, Noveria Epps-Gore; one brother, Lamont Humbert; two aunts, Phillis Martin and Ollie Gallishaw; one sister-in-law, Shirley Damon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and dear friends.
Ronald’s legacy of laughter, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he has departed this earthly home, his spirit remains forever True Blue.
