Mr. Bacote transitioned peacefully at Bennettsville Health & Rehabilitation, Bennettsville, SC, on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Public viewing will be 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St Darlington, SC.
Funeral service with military honors will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, September 8, 2025, at the US National Cemetery - Florence, 803 E National Cemetery Rd, Florence, SC.
Obituary
Mr. Roger James Bacote was born in Darlington, SC on December 27, 1956 the of late Colin and Sarah Law Bacote. He entered his final resting place Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Bennettsville Health and Rehab, Bennettsville, South Carolina.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from St. John High School.
At a young age, Roger answered the call to serve his Country by joining the United States Navy where he proudly served with honor and dedication. After his tenure, he was honorable discharged.
His love for God led him to give his life to Christ and became a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved Companion, Carrie Lee Charles; as well as his parents: Colin and Sarah L. Bacote.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his children: Antonio (Whitley) Charles and Suzella Charles; his grandchildren: Reggie Maquette Tindale Jr., Rejenea Markeisha Tindale, RaQuan Malik Tindal and Antonio Charles Jr. all of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a special niece: Tammy Perkins whom he loved; a dear friend affectionately known as his “Work Wife,” Pamela Hepburn.
His devoted nurse, Angie Pait whose kindness and compassion were a great comfort; the staff of Blding 3 of Bennettsville Health and Rehab. "Among those who cared for him, none were more cherished than Stacy Weinberg, his nurse and his Angel in human form."Roger will be remembered for his quiet strength, loving spirit and unwavering devotion to his family and faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
