It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Greene Family share the passing of Mr. Richard James Greene of Decatur, GA, formally of Darlington, SC. Mr. Greene passed on Friday, May 20, 2022 in a Georgia hospital following an illness.
Life's Reflection
Mr. Richard James Greene was born on January 21, 1961, the 5th child of Elizabeth and the late James Greene, Jr. in New Haven Connecticut. He transitioned from the earthly realm on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Decatur Emory Hospital in Decatur, Georgia.
Richard received his formal education in the Darlington County School District and went on to receive his Associate Degree from Neilsen Electronics Institute in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a free spirit person, spending most of his adult life either working in his field of electronics or traveling across the country as a tractor trailer driver. As a hobby, he was a loyal and devoted crew member of the Southeastern US based Dead Pirates fan group. This is a pirate fandom group.
Survivors left to cherish his memories are: his mother, Elizabeth Greene; his six sisters: Nancy Cain, Phyllis Scott, Yvonne Greene, Robin Jones, Allison Carraway, Christa McAllister, and one sister-in-law, Vanessa Greene. He leaves his loving aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Greene, Jr., his older brother, Jonathan Boyd Greene, and two brothers-in-law, Carl Cain and Sgt. Terrence Carraway.
