It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Rembert Ferris Davis, affectionately know as “Renny” of Florence, SC formally of Lamar, SC. Mr. Davis passed early Saturday morning, March 4, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral service is Friday, March 10, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in Sandy Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
“For now I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” II Timothy 4:6-8
Mr. Rembert Ferris Davis was born in Darlington, South Carolina on December 6, 1969 a son of Alphonso and Christine Robinson and reared by his great aunt, Altha Mae “Mutt” Davis. He entered into his final resting place on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools and an Honor’s Graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1988. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was medically discharged under honorable conditions.
Rembert enrolled in Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC.
“Renny”, affectionately called by family and friends, was employed with Florence Industrial until his health declined.
On February 11, 2008, he was united in marriage to the former Miss Tara Allen.
Those left to cherish his memories are: his wife of 15 years, Tara Allen Davis of the home; his parents: Christine Davis Robinson and Alphonso Robinson both of Darlington, SC; his special great aunt, Altha Mae “Mutt” Davis of Darlington, SC; his daughter, Imana (Jonathan) Holmes-Caasi of Vandenberg Space Force Base, California; three grandchildren: Ashara Lawhorn (8 years old), Emiko Caasi (2 years old) and Raelle Caasi (8 months old); two step children; one brother, Marcus Shenard Robinson of Darlington, SC; three aunts: Annette Johnson, Julia Davis and Renetha Davis Blackmon all of Darlington, SC and Jesse Mae Gee of Lake Nono Orlando, FL; two uncles, Jackie Wendell Davis of Darlington, SC and Sammie Davis of Houston, TX; several cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of an aunt, Ms. Altha Mae "Mutt" Davis, 100 Springfield Circle, Apt. 19C, Darlington.
