Mr. Odell Fox, Sr.

With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home and members of the Fox family announce the transition of Mr. Odell Fox, Sr., of Darlington, SC. Mr. Fox passed on Monday, January 5, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.

The family will be receiving friends Thursday, January 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Friday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Mayo High School Athletic Hall of Fame, 306 Jessamine St, Darlington, SC.

Public viewing will be held 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2025, at Center Baptist Church, 3420 N Sally Hill Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow in Hart No. 2 Cemetery, Timmonsville Hwy, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

    Mr. Odell Fox, Sr. was born August 16, 1948, in Darlington, South Carolina, a son of the late Roosevelt Fox, Sr., and Alice Hickman Fox. He entered his final resting place on Monday, January 5, 2026 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina.

   He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where he attended Mayo High School.

    Odell was a member of Center Baptist Church where he served as a full faithful member.  

    He was employed at Nucor Steel in Darlington, SC, for thirty years until he retired.

    He was preceded in death by: his late wife, Dian Z. Fox; his siblings: Roosevelt Fox, Jr., Marvin Stevie Fox, Bertha Mae Murphy, Mary Alice Fox, and a grandson, Alex Jadon Fox.

    Those left to cherish his memories are:  his four children: Tammy (Johnathan) Moses of Darlington, SC, Odell (Sonya) Fox, Jr. of Virginia, Vanessa (B.J. Johnson) Fox of Darlington, SC, and Donnie Ray (Ela’ Grate) Fox of Hemingway, SC; special grand niece raised as his own, Yolanda (Rakese) Hammonds; his brother, Bishop Ronnie (Shirley) Foxe of Elgin, SC; eight grandchildren: Nimeshia Fox, SSgt US Army Sha’Neal Fox, Alexius Fox-Gee, Jonicea Fox-Moses, Emani Moses, Pamela Moses, Dylan Thomas Fox, and Marese McCall; five great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Mae Frances Rogers, Ruthenia Fox both of Darlington, SC and Rutha Mae Fox Timmonsville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
