Obituary

Mr. Norris Sims, the son of the late Henry Sims and Pearlie Carolina Sims and reared by his maternal grandparents: the late Leo and Moree Carolina, was born March 20, 1952 in Darlington, South Carolina.  He entered into his eternal rest on  Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

“Duck”, as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System.  He was employed at Nucor Stell Plant for 20 years where he later retired.

Norris was united in marriage to the former Miss Betty Ann Rouse for 41 years and to this union one son was born.

He was very outgoing, he loved people and never met a stranger and was a friend to all.  Norris was the life of the party.  If you want a good laugh, go to Norris.  He always acknowledged the Lord.  He would always say, “I’m doing the best I can by the grace of God.”

One of “Duck’s” favorite sayings was, “Zip It” and “Yada, Yada, Yada”!

Those left to cherish his memory are:  his faithful wife, Betty R. Sims of the home; his loving son, Shawn A. Sims of the home; four grandchildren: Antwan Sims, Myeshia A. Sims, Zaveon Sims all of Cheraw, SC and Stanza Cole of Fayetteville, NC; a special cousin/sister, Margie (Douglas) Brunson; a special friend like a brother, Hansen Brown; his mother-in-law, Gladys Rouse; one uncle, Harry L. Carolina; two aunts, Rosa Head and Eloise McCall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Abigail Bromell and Latonya Valarie Carolina and one brother, Leo Sims.

Please keep the family and friends of Mr. Norris Sims in your thoughts and prayers.
