Visitation with family will be held daily at the residence, 1324 Gus Dr, Darlington, SC.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Inc., 1532 E Old Marion Hwy, Florence, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Greater Gethsemane Garden of Rest, 2328 Pocket Rd, Darlington, SC.

Today, we pause to pay tribute to the memories of one who endeared himself in the hearts of his family and friends. He was greatly admired and deeply loved.
On Sunday, May 18, 2025, in Encompass Health Rehab Hospital of Florence, our almighty God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to give Mr. Nathaniel Joe, Sr. eternal rest, calling him from labor to reward.
Brother Nathaniel Joe was the son of the late Deacon Daniel Joe and Mother Ida Scipio Joe. He was born in Darlington, SC on June 16, 1938. He was affectionately called, “Na” by family and friends.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
On September 13, 1960, he was joined in holy matrimony to the former Miss Lucille Byrd and to this loving union, God provided one daughter and two sons.
Over his lifetime, he worked at Perfection America for 30 years, The News & Press part time for 50 years and he retired from Lowes of Florence after 20 years. In retirement, he continued his journey at St. Matthews Church of Darlington and his landscaping business until he became disabled.
Nathaniel Joe was a humble, faithful and dedicated servant in Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth Swaringer.
Nathaniel Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Nathaniel Joe, Jr. in 2008 and his step-daughter, Rita Larkins in 2024.
Those left to cherish his many memories are: his loving wife, Lucille B. Joe of the home; his son, David of Darlington, SC; his daughter, Willa Jean Joe of Maryland; his grandchildren: Nathaniel Joe, III, William Johnson, Christopher Byrd and Yiana Thomas; his brother, Cornell Joe; his cousin: Buddy Joe; special loving niece, Pearlena Thompson; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
