Mr. Monty Lamont Thomas

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Monty Lamont Thomas of Darlington. Mr. Thomas expired on Monday, March 22, 2021 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Interment will follow.  Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service.

Mr. Monty Lamont Thomas was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 4, 1977 a son of the late Robert Thomas Sr. and Fannie Mae Harkless Thomas. He entered into his eternal rest on Monday evening, March 22, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, S.C.

He received his formal education in the Darlington County public schools. Mr. Monty career was in road transportation of goods to include timber, non-perishables, and aggregates. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his kids, family and friends.

Early in life he joined Cherry Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving father, brother, nephew and family member. To know him was to love him.

Mr. Monty was preceded in death by:  two brothers: Robert Thomas Jr. and Jimmie Lee Thomas and a sister, Linda T. O’Neal.

Those left to cherish his memory are:  two precious daughters:  Tysheria Yada Hudson and Imani Deondra Thomas both of Darlington, SC; two sisters:  Mrs. Rosemary Dent of Hinesville, GA and Mrs. Kathleen Hinton (Edward) of Columbus, GA; four brothers:  Mr. Freddie (Shirley) Thomas, Mr. James Edward (Yvonne) Thomas, Mr. Calvin (Dena) Thomas and Mr. Tommy Lee Thomas all of Darlington, SC; a special brother/nephew Roanell (Tony) Thomas of Tampa, Florida; three aunts; two uncles; his special friend, Kisha Small of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and we can’t forget Darlington High School Class of 1996 who regret his passing and love him dearly.

The Thomas Family will be receiving friends at 835 Billy Farrow Highway, Darlington.
