Mr. Maurice "Reese" Williams

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Maurice "Reese" Williams of Darlington. Mr. Williams passed on Sunday, July 31, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Memorial Services for Mr. Williams will be 1:00PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. 

Obituary

   “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

    Mr. Maurice Williams was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 6, 1955 a son of the late Cornelius Williams, Sr. and Eva Bell Muldrow Williams. Maurice quietly entered into his eternal resting place on Sunday morning, July 31, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after a brief illness.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School District and Home Schooled following an illness.

     “Reese”, as he was affectionately called, was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin.  He will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors.  To know “Reese” was to love him.

     He was preceded in death by:  his parents: Cornelius Williams and Eva Bell Williams; and his brother, Cornelis “Ted” Williams.

     Those left to cherish his memory are:  his sisters:  Nina “Shelia” (Kenrick) Easley of Prosper, TX and Timiko Baines (Willard) Shannon of Darlington, SC; a sister-in-law, Mattie Williams of Cambridge, MA; his favorite aunt, Martha (James) Cato of Aiken, SC; his favorite uncle, Frank (Edith) Goodson of Olanta, SC; three nieces: Lugenia (Deon) Massey of Camden, SC, Shakia Easley of Celina, TX and Corlisha Williams of Cambridge, MA; three nephews: Misaun Williams of Knoxville, TN, Billy Easley of Washington, DC and Cornelius Williams, III of Cambridge, MA; sixteen grandnieces and nephews; ten great great-grandnieces and nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends of Mr. Williams is held at 833 West McIver Road, Darlington.
