~Life's Reflections~

Mr. Lyndon Rouse, Sr., affectionately known as “Lyn”, was the son of the late Sammie Lee Rouse, Sr. and Willive Starks Rouse. He was born in Darlington County on April 17, 1959. He departed this life suddenly on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at MUSC Florence after a brief Illness.

He received his formal education in the Darlington County public schools, graduating from Mayo High School in the Class of 1977. Upon graduating high school, he was employed at Nucor Steel in Darlington, SC for 30 years. Lyn was known for his work ethic. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Whether it be 60 or 70 hours a week it did not matter in the pursuit to provide for his family.

Lyn met and married the love of his life, Patricia. They were united in Holy Matrimony on November 9, 1984 and shared 35 years together. Their union was blessed with two sons: Lyndon Jr. and Demetrius.

Lyn was generosity personified. He literally gave until it hurt, but pain was never a deterrent if someone was in need. Regardless of time, treasure, or talent all was given without reproach and selflessly. He did not give to be seen or to receive anything in return. His foremost desire was to see others happy. He made an indelible impact on everyone that he met. He did not just have two sons, but he was a dad to many. He spent time with so many children. During the weekend he could often be found with a bunch of kids watching movies, playing cards, playing basketball, or going fishing. Being a father came second nature to him. He was a constant support to all his family in any way possible.

His generosity knew no bounds and was translated into everything that he did. He loved to cook. He could regularly be seen with a grill in tow going to different functions and cooking meals for others at no cost. He loved being around people and working in the yard. He would often create jobs for others just so he could spend time with them and make sure they had money in their pockets. That was just Lyn!

At an early age he was baptized and joined Bethany Baptist Church. In 1996 Lyn felt a witness in his spirit and joined Outreach Family Fellowship of Florence and Dillon SC, where he served by cooking and in other capacities.

Those surviving to cherish his memories are: his wife: Patricia Rouse of the home; two sons Lyndon (Charita) Rouse Jr. of Effingham, SC, Demetrius (Jennifer) Rouse of Florence, SC; one granddaughter: Zaria Rouse of Effingham, SC; Three sisters: Barbara Baker of Los Angeles, CA, Maeretha (Harry) Dubose of Rock Hill, SC, and Robin Ann Rouse of Darlington, SC.; one brother: Sammie Lee Rouse Jr.; a friend who was like a brother: William (Clovis) Arthur; seven aunts: Audrey Richardson of Florence, SC, Mary Rouse of Darlington, SC, Rosa Lee Rouse of Darlington, SC, Juanita Davis of Florence, SC, and Margie Tindal, Sandra Starks, Lorretta Starks all of NY; one uncle: Robert Rouse of Atlanta, GA; nine sister-in -laws, seven brother-in-laws; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
