Mr. Lucius DuBose

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Lucius DuBose of Darlington. Mr. DuBose transition on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in a Florence medical facility.

Graveside services will be 1:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Faith Memorial Gardens, Darlington. Interment will follow. 

~Obituary~

“Sometimes it’s hard to understand why some things have to be, but in His wisdom, God has planned beyond our power to see.  So looking back in tenderness along the road we trod.  We cherish the years we had with you and leave the rest to God.”

Mr. Lucius Levern Dubose, Sr., better known as “Boopee”, was born on August 24, 1941 in Darlington, SC a son of the late Leroy Dubose, Sr. and Ethel Lee Gandy Dubose.  He departed this life of Saturday, March 21, 2020 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

He joined St. James United Methodist Church at an early age.

Lucius lived all his life in Darlington where he worked at Perfection America and later at Cox Enterprises, Inc. until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Henrietta Jones Dubose for 59 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Deloris Dubose; a son and daughter-in-law, Lucius Jr. and Marva Grant Dubose; two sisters: Jessie Mae Williamson, Yvonne Alexander; two brothers: Leroy Dubose, Jr. and Jimmy Dubose.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are:  his wife, Henrietta Dubose of the home; his two daughters: Sandra Faye (Joseph) Mills and Wanda Lanette Repass both of Darlington, SC; one son, Michael Shawn (Teresa) Stevenson of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Emma Jean Williams, Judy Lee Rush and Janice Dubose; one brother, Harry Lee Dubose all of Darlington, SC; a special niece who is like a sister, Mary Ann (Horace) Williams of Darlington, SC; a special cousin who is like a brother, Ernest “Bobo” Edwards; his grandchildren: Roshonda (Derrick) Henry, Anthony Quentin Robinson, Mya Latrice Dubose, Deontrey Laron Campbell, MaKayla Nicole Staggers and Jada Mykell Staggers; two great grandchildren: Areyana Nicole Henry and Zanasia Sania Scott; a special friend, Ida Mae Gregg & family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for the DuBose family will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm daily at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Sandra Mills, 1377 Society Hill Road, Darlington.
