Obituary

Mr. Levern “Jason” Joint was born in Darlington, South Carolina, on March 4, 1968. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. Monroe Joint, Sr, and Mrs. Jessie Bell Lawrence Joint. Levern departed from his earthly home on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Levern received most of his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools, later completing his General Education Development (GED) credentials. Levern was a versatile man who undertook a variety of trades. However, landscaping always seemed natural to him. Like his mother and brother Ernest, he enjoyed gardening and relaxing outdoors. As the family comedian, Jason always had a joke or prank up his sleeve.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are three brothers: Bernard (Yvonne) Joint, Sammie Lee Joint, Ernest (Sheila) Joint, all of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Emma (Morris) Lowery, Linda Joint, and Elaine Smith, all of Darlington, SC; one sister-in-law: Sharon Joint.

Jason, as he was affectionately known, will forever be loved and remembered by numerous extended family members, including the Smith and Jackson families. Levern was preceded in death by his father, Monroe Joint, Sr.; his mother, Jessie Bell Joint; his siblings: Willie Michael Lawrence, Mary Ella Joint, Monroe “Shortman” Joint, Jr., Elizabeth “Plum” Jones, and Mary “Bouncey” Joint.

Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence of his nephew, Michael N. Joint at 3520 Squirt Drive in Dovesville Community of Darlington from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
