It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Levelle Damon of Lamar. Mr. Damon expires on Saturday evening, August 15, 2020 in a Florence Hospital.
Funeral service is 11AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in Zion Cemetery, Lamar. Interment will follow.
Obituary
Mr. Levelle Damon was born on March 31, 1943 in Lamar, South Carolina. He was the son of Burnis Damon and Lacey Bell Slater Damon. Levelle transitioned on Saturday night, August 15, 2020 in the Medical University of South Carolina, Florence.
Levelle attended the Darlington County School System attending Spaulding High School. After high school, Levelle was united in marriage to the former Thomasena Spann and to this union four sons were born.
He accepted the Lord at a young age and became a member of Mary Magdalene Freewill Baptist Church. Levelle was a member of the trustee ministry.
Levelle was employed with Emerald Construction as a truck driver, of which he retired after many years of dedicated service. On the CB radio while driving trucks, Levelle was know as “Heavy”. Always active, Levelle was not afraid of work, he loved the trade of farming especially driving the tractor.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife: Thomasena S. Damon; his children: Edward (Mae) Spann of Lamar, Jackie (Dianne) Spann of Columbia, SC, Lerond (Janet S.) Damon of Effingham, SC, Cleveland Damon of Lamar, SC, and Cynthia Petty of Lamar, SC; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; one brother: Purvis George, Jr. of Florence, SC; a special friend: Rosa Lide of Florence, SC; two special nieces he reared as his own: Bernice (Larry) Price and Bernette (Alford) McCoy, both of Lamar, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Burnis and Lacey Bell Damon, siblings: Edith Evans, Christine Davis, Carrie Lee Rogers, Novella Coe, Joe Louis Damon, and Corine Robinson.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a son, Lerond Damon, 2450 West Bryan Street, Effingham.
