It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Robinson family announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Levance "Pookie" Robinson of Darlington. Mr. Robinson passed on Monday night, January 3, 2022 at his residence following an illness.
Funeral is 2:00pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing for this service.
Obituary
Mr. Levance Dion “Pookie” Robinson was born in Darlington, South Carolina on Monday, December 24, 1973, a son of Frances Campbell Robinson and the late Levern Robinson. He transitioned peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at home from an illness.
“Pookie” attended the Darlington County Public Schools and graduated from St. John’s High School, Class of 1992. After graduating, he attended Florence-Darlington Technical College.
“Pookie” lived in Darlington, South Carolina, Florence, South Carolina and in Atlanta, Georgia. He was active in the workforce. Having worked in shipping and receiving for various companies and industries. “Pookie” was also a correctional officer for Juvenile Detention Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Pookie’s memories are his mother: Minister Frances Campbell Robinson of the home; his siblings: Alisa R. (Henry) Jett of Florence, SC, Carmisha R. (Lorenzo) Thacker of Florence, SC and Quincy O’Neal of Darlington, SC; his aunts and uncles: Gus Lee & Sandra Robinson, Samuel Robinson, all of Darlington, SC, James Robinson of Timmonsville, SC, Annette R. Washington of Jonesboro, GA, Emma R. (Albert) Bonaparte of Darlington, SC and Attorney Frank Campbell, Jr., Esq. of Boston, MA; several great aunts and uncles; a host of one niece, two nephews, a host of cousins and friends; his life-time friends: Daniel Blathers and Lamont Joseph; his caretakers: Pamela Odom-Ball and Brenda Johnson.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Levern Robinson and his brother, Eloyd Robinson; his maternal grandparents: Frank and Madie Williams Campbell; his paternal grandparents: Sammie and Eloise Sawyer Robinson.
