Mr. Larry "Redden" Thomas

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Thomas Family announce the passing of Mr. Larry "Redden" Thomas of Darlington, SC.  Larry passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Sunday, December 5, 2021 in Wilds Quarters Cemetery, Rogers Road, Darlington. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service. 

Obituary

     “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”

     Mr. Larry “Redden” Thomas was born in Darlington, South Carolina on March 29, 1961 a son of the late Junior Wilds and Florrie Wilson Thomas.  He entered his eternal resting place on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

     He received his former education in the Florence County Public School System and was employed as a former Farmer.

     Survivors left to cherish his memory are:  his daughter, Paige Thomas of Darlington, SC; a son, Miguel Sutton of Darlington, SC; four step-children: Shawn Davis of Columbia, SC, Tiwanda Davis (Ervin) Luckey, Rufus Davis and Ernest Davis all of Darlington, SC; one brother, Harry (Dee-Dee) Thomas of Florence, SC; three sisters: Lula Wheeler, Clara and Pauline Thomas all of Darlington, SC; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: his wife, Ella Thomas; two brothers: Nathaniel Thomas and Robert Lee Thomas, Sr.; his niece, Alicia Thomas-Green; a great niece, Jyden Silva; his maternal grandmother, Girldine Thomas; his aunt, Rosetta James and his uncle, Robert James.
