It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Prescott family announce the passing of Mr. Joshua Prescott of Warner Robins, GA. Mr. Prescott expired on Thursday, June 06, 2024 in Georgia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Church of Christ, 680 Sandy Grove Church Rd, Lamar, SC.

To Family, friends and those who closely knew him, JoshuaPrescott was affectionately known as “J. P.” He departed this life after a sudden death in Macon, GA. He was born in Darlington County a son of the late Silas Prescott, Sr. and Fannie Lorriane Huggins Prescott.
He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County where he graduated from Spaulding High Class of 1981. He went on to attend further his education at Florence-DarlingtonTechnical College in Florence SC where he studied Architect.After technical college, he worked in sales, he later began a career as a truck driver for various companies the last being Landair, and then moved on to entrepreneurship in the big town of Lamar where he would host events assisted by a friend, Marvin Williams, like car shows, carnivals, Gospel Singing Concerts, and a Flea Market.
Joshua was a member of The Church Of Christ from a young age. Most recently he attended the Congregation of the Church of Christ in Macon, GA.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Laura Spears Prescott;grandparents: J. B. Huggins, Jessie Robinson Huggins and Lou Prescott; his parents: Silas Prescott, Sr. and Fannie LorrianeHuggins Prescott; two aunts: Jessie Mae Huggins Criss and Jeanette Huggins Wilson; two sisters Lula M Prescott Davis and Viola Prescott Dunn, two brothers-in-law: David Grant, Jr. and Frank Commander.
Those left to cherish his memory are: two sons: Brandon Spears and Deondré Prescott both of Florence, SC; two granddaughters: Italy Spears and Saniyah Prescott both of Florence, SC; three brothers and six sisters: Silas (Callean) Prescott, Jr. of Macon, GA; Jan (Michael) Gadson of Darlington, SC, Patsy Commander of Florence, SC, Caleb (Letha) Prescott, Sr. of Lynchburg, SC, Kathy (George) Scipio of Darlington, SC, Samuel Prescott, Sr. of Florence, SC, Denise Prescott of Darlington, SC, Audrey (Cedric) Benjamin of Lamar, SC and Regina T Myers of Rock Hill, SC; one great uncle,Samuel Huggins of Richmond, VA; two brothers-in-law: Cornell (Ruby) Davis and Oscar Dunn, II; a host of nieces, nephews,special cousins; two lifelong close friends: James Johnson and Calvin Mayo and so many others throughout his walk of life.
Official visitation for the Prescott family will be Wednesday, June 12th through Saturday, June 15th from 4pm - 8pm at the home of a sister, Patsy Commander, 3027 Meadowbrook Dr, Florence, SC, 29501.
