It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Joseph "Joe Boogie" Myers of Darlington. Mr. Myers passed on Friday, September 27, 2019 in a Florence Hospice House.  

Funeral service will be 11:00AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens. 

                                 ~Life’s Reflections~

Mr. Joseph “Joe Boogie” Myers was born in Sumter, SC on March 18, 1957 a son of the late Roosevelt “Clyde” Myers and Isabelle James Myers and was the 7th out of 11 children.  He took his final breath on Friday, September 27, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

“Joe Boogie”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in both the Sumter and Darlington County School Districts.  He worked as a Farm-hand for Mr. Bill’s Farm, as well as a auto detailer for Clanton Auto Auction and also employed at Poly Quest as a Warehouse worker.

He was a dedicated Dallas Cowboy Football fan and an avid fisherman.  Though he was a quiet and gentle soul, he was loved and will be missed by all.

“Joe Boogie” was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Adeline Myers Blackman and Malissa Myers Gregory.

He leaves to cherish his many fond memories: his loving daughter, Queen (David) Windham; his granddaughter, Ashlee Windham all of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Catherine Herbert, Andrena (Jerome) Moses and Lillie (Ronnie) Carraway all of Florence, SC; five brothers: Hezekiah (Fannie) Washington of Albany, NY, George Myers of Darlington, SC, Roosevelt Myers, Amos (Liza) Myers and Christopher (Angella) Myers all of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for the relatives and friends of Mr. Myers will be held at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Queen and David Windham, 114 McInnis Street, Darlington.
