Mr. John Ervin Dudley

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc and members of the Dudley family acknowledge the passing of Mr. John Ervin Dudley of Darlington. Mr. Dudley expired on Friday, June 10, 2022 in McLeod Hospital following an illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Mr. John Ervin Dudley was born January 16, 1954 in Darlington, SC the 5th child of the late Willie Dudley, Sr. and Margaret Olivia Williamson Dudley.  He entered into his final resting place on Friday, June 10, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

John received his formal education in the Darlington County School System. 

He was a member of Mt. Rona Baptist Church. 

John Ervin was an employee for J. T. Ross Farm for over 50 years. John was married to the late Evalina Washington Dudley who was the love of his life. Their union was blessed with five children. 

John loved his family and friends. He also had a love for music, gardening and football and with that being said, he was a die-hard straight up Washington Redskin fan.

Those who will forever cherish his precious memories are:  his three sons:  Cedric Washington,  Ervin Dudley (Amanda McCoy) both of Darlington, SC and Terry Dudley of Society Hill, SC; his two daughters: Patricia Dudley and Nichole Hunter (Gregory Ross) both of Darlington, SC; two step-sons: Lance Coleman and Willie Jackson; thirteen grandchildren  (4 of which he raise as his own):  Patrice, Jamal, Trey and Keyshawn; other grandchildren: Porsha, Ervin Jr., Ervon, Erin, Destiny, Nykera, Nigel, Imani and Miracle; seven great-grandchildren:  Cali, Caden, Camiyah, Caycen, Tavonte, Princeton and  Kingston; five brothers: Willie (Ernestine) Dudley, Jr., Troy (Annie) Dudley, Richard (Louise) Dudley, Robert Dudley and Jessie (Mae) Dudley all of Darlington,  SC; two sisters: Catherine  (John) Mazon of Darlington, SC and Ernestine (James) Ross of Florence, SC;  an uncle, Leon (Gloria) Dudley of Bennettsville, SC; an aunt, Sudie (Edward) Wylie of Jonosboro, GA; niece and nephew he raise as his own: Allen Dudley and Amy Dudley; three brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two special friends: Herbert Green and Sammie Lee “Bull” McCoy; a host of other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by:  his parents: Willie Dudley, Sr. and Margaret Olivia Williamson Dudley; his wife, Evalina Washington Dudley; his baby girl, Janice Dudley; two sisters: Betty Jean Dudley and Margaret Dudley; two brothers: Dennis Dudley and John Phillip Dudley; a nephew, Tony Jett; and his mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. 

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 4589 Running Brook Drive, Darlington.
