Mr. John "Big O" Green, Jr.

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. John  "Big O" Green, Jr. of Darlington. Mr. Green passed on Friday, January 21, 2022 in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022 in Hart No. 2 Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing for this service. 

Obituary

     Mr. John Green, Jr. was born August 3, 1968 in Lamar, South Carolina, a son of Dorothy Mae Stokes Williams and the late John Williams, Sr.  He entered into his final resting place on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC.

     He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where he graduated from Lamar High School in Lamar, South Carolina.   

     “Big O”, as he was lovingly called by family and friends, lived most of his life in Darlington County where he was gainfully employed at Clanton Auto Auction for many years before his health declined.

     On December 21, 1989, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Tammy Denise Murray Green.

     Those left to cherish his memory are:  his very devoted wife of 33 years, Tammy M. Green of the home; his mother, Dorothy Mae Williams; his loving mother-in-law, Helen L. Murray; three brothers: Charles Green, James Green and Tyrone Williams; four sisters: Shirley Gibbons, Peggy Green, Vickie James and Shona Woods; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
