It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the McClain family announce the passing of Mr. Jimmy McClain of Society Hill, SC. Mr. McClain passed on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral service is 11:30am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in New Hopewell Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Florence National Cemetery with Navy Honors.
Mr. Jimmy McClain was born on January 31, 1956 in Hartsville, SC a son of the late Albert McClain, Sr. and Juanita Alford McClain Johnson. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the residence of his brother.
Jimmy received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Rosenwald High School, Society Hill Class of 1974.
In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Navy, after his tenure he was honorably discharged. He worked various jobs: PPM, Galey & Lord, the Papermill and lastly at E-Z Products as a Forklift Driver for 18 years until his health declined.
He was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Word of Life Christian Center, Bennettsville, SC.
Jimmy was very devoted to his family. He loved playing spades, sports and faithful Dallas Cowboy fan.
Jimmy was preceded in death by: his parents: Albert McClain, Sr. and Juanita Alford McClain Johnson; his grandparents: Arthur Wilson, Theo Fountain-Palmer, Willie Mae Jett and Moses Jett; great grandparents: Eliza and James Darrow, Ingram and Hallie McClain; and his sibling, Benny Pastor.
Those left to cherish his memory are: three brothers: Albert McClain, Jr., Gary McClain and Joe Poston; seven sisters: Gloria (George) Dockery, Constance Dixon, Geneva Tinsley, Daisy Allen, Azalee (Dan) McPhail, Evonne Poston and TishanaKnight; a sister-in-law, Crystal Poston; step siblings: Robert Johnson, Jr., William Johnson and Joyce Johnson; aunts: Geneva Landford-Blanks, Eliza Wilson, Linda Wilson and Henrietta Sellers; uncles: Charles (Elease) Wilson, Roger Wilson and Theodore Palmer; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Keith Grant and The Brewington Family.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 1440 E. Old Camden Highway, Hartsville from 4:00pm to 7:00pm daily. Mask are required.
