Mr. Jessie “Tootah” Nettles, Jr.

It is with heartfelt condolences that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Jessie Nettles, Jr. of Darlington. Mr. Nettles passed on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

       “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

    Mr. Jessie Nettles, Jr. was born in Florence, SC on October 6, 1953 a son of the late Jessie Nettles, Sr. and Mary Thomas Nettles.  He entered into his final resting place on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after an illness.

   He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.  He attended New Providence Baptist Church.

    He was united in marriage to Mazie Delane Nettles.  This union was blessed with three children.

    “Tootah”, as he was affectionately called, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, family member and friend.  He loved to watch boxing on TV.  Jessie will be missed by his family and friends.

    Those left to cherish his passing are: his loving wife, Mazie Nettles of the home; two daughters: Wanda (Dontrell) McFadden and Yolanda Nettles; three sons: Kevin (Daphne) Nettles, Cobie Bell and Codie Bell; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, James Nettles; one sister, Marilyn Nettles; his mother-in-law, Katie Jackson; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    He was preceded in death in addition to his mother and father; two brothers: Edward Nettles and Jake Nettles; his grandmother, Ada B. Nettles.

Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence, 409 Juleswood Drive, Darlington.
