It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Parrott family announce the passing of Mr. Jerome "Bubba" William Parrott of Darlington, SC. Mr. Parrott exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at home following an illness.
Funeral service will be 12 PM noon on Friday, September 13, 2024, at New Providence Baptist Church, 2156 Cashua Ferry Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd, Darlington, SC.
There will be no setup at the home for family and friends.
Public viewing will be 1:00-5:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.

Jerome William Parrott Jr. "Bubba"
Jerome William Parrott Jr. was born January 30, 1951, to the late Jerome William Parrott Sr. and Edith Parrott-Brockington of Darlington, South Carolina. He was the third child of five children. Jerome was affectionately known as "Bubba.” Jerome departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his son's home in Darlington, South Carolina.
Bubba began his Christian journey at Saint James United Methodist Church in Darlington, South Carolina at a young age. Bubba served on the Senior Choir and he participated in other church activities. He received his education in Darlington County School Districts. In 1969, he graduated from Mayo High School. While he was in High School, he was in the Mayo Golden Bears Marching Band and played the clarinet.
Bubba married Elizabeth Kelly July 17, 1975 and they were blessed with their two children JerLonda Parrott Douglas and Derrel Parrott.
Bubba was a big icon and Mascot at Piggly Wiggly in Darlington, South Carolina for over fifty years until his retirement. He worked at Piggly Wiggly since 1978 and since then he had made himself a community fixture through his friendly demeanor and excellent customer service. Bubba was the customer contact person and public relations, personified at the store. He worked year-o round and never took a vacation. Per Bubba “this job is in my blood and I enjoy every minute of it. I love being around people and I thank God for this job and the people that I work for. This job is not about money, but it is about learning how to treat people the way you want to be treated. It's not what you make, but what you do with what you make." Bubba was a perfect fit for the job because he loved people.
Bubba's favorite things next to his children and grandchildren was shooting pool, especially eight ball with his son Derrel Parrott and nephew John Kelly Ill, He was an avid and die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to wear anything advertising the Dallas Cowboys. He played the horn with a Spiritual Group. Bubba was known for walking around town and greeting people. Bubba's favorite saying was KEEP LOOKING UP.
Bubba was preceded in death by his mother Edith Parrott-Brockington, his grandmother, Lucille Bruce also Known as Momma Cile, and his father Jerome William Parrott Sr.
Jerome William Parrott, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his two children his daughter JerLonda (Demicheon) Douglas of Greer, South Carolina, his son Derrel (Racheal) Parrott of Darlington, eight grandchildren: Jamaize (Aiyanna) Douglas, Zaden Elizondo, Logan Elizondo, DaKyleigh (Kyleigh) Young, Enrique Douglas, Nicholas Douglas, Daylen (DJ) Parrott, and Mia Douglas, one great-grandson; Jaicen Douglas. Also to mourn his four sisters: Sandra (Nathaniel) Stephenson, LaMaurice P. Burgin, Veronica C. Hollland, and Cheryl Hassan, two special young ladies Teonia Wills and Roni Williams whom he treated as his nieces, his neighbors on Pine Street, special friend Barbara White, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends that will miss him greatly. Special thanks to McLeod Hospice Team, the Oncologist Team, and Dr. Vijeyaluxmy Motilal Nehru.
