It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. James Gainey, Jr. of Darlington. Mr. Gainey passed on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at St. James Deliverance Church. Please adhere to social distancing while attending this service.
Obituary
James Vernell Gainey, Jr. began his journey on August 6, 1963 in Thomasville NC. He was raised by his mother, the late Cora Lee Green and father, Robert Lee Green. James departed for his heavenly home on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his residence after an illness.
James received his formal education in New Jersey and furthered that education by learning other trades. James was a hardworking man of many hats and talents that was displayed in the variety of jobs he held. He spent his last working years as a palletizer at Darlington Veneer. .
James was brought up in a Christian home, where he was introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted him as his savior. He always had a scripture in his heart that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. James cherished spending time with his loved ones; sharing stories and laughing as only he could. He loved his community and was glad to help anyone that he could.
James was preceded in death by: his loving mother, Cora Lee Green; his brothers: Robert Charles Rubin and Joseph Green; as well as his sister, Sarah Alice Bess.
Left to cherish his Memory is his Father, Robert Green of Sumter, SC; brother, Melvin Rubin of Florence, SC; sisters, Robin Rubin of Darlington SC, Wanda Gainey of Manning SC, and April Green of Winston Salem NC, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, family, and friends.
